I'm Brad Hill, a software developer from Ottawa, Ontario. Programming has been a passion of mine as I love taking on challenging problems and finding solutions for them with the tools at hand.
I studied Game Development for 3 years at Algonquin College in Ottawa, gaining experience in C#, C++, gameplay programming, teamwork, and agile development. We focused not only on theory, but on real world development standards and practices.
In my spare time I enjoy reading historical fiction and philosophy, playing games (especially story-driven ones), and wrenching on anything with an engine. I’m also fascinated by astrophysics, astronomy, and space in general.
Thanks for taking the time to learn a bit about me! Please scroll down and check out my Portfolio to see some of the projects I've worked on.

The most ambitious project I've worked on to date is Arkin, a space combat game developed in the Unity engine. Arkin began as a college project with a team of 9 people that spanned 3 semesters. It was designed to replicate the real world development process of a game from concept to release. I was responsible for many things on the project, but my main role was Lead Developer. I oversaw the design of various systems, maintained the TDD, established coding practices, and of course did quite a lot of programming.
After graduating several of my classmates and I started our own independent game studio, Raven Sword Industries. Our goal when starting the company was to turn Arkin into a full-fledged game and release it commercially. Since then we’ve ran a successful Kickstarter campaign, and been Greenlit though the Steam Greenlight program allowing us to publish Arkin on Steam. Unfortunately due to various life circumstances the Arkin team fell apart and development has been halted. Arkin has been released for free on Steam as-is.
After forming the company I was responsible for all engineering, programming, level design, UI, and web development for Arkin. Additionally, I was responsible for managing the business, creating much of our PR/media content, as well as directing the project as a whole.
To play the game or just learn more about it please check out the Steam store page. There you can download it for free, see more screenshots, and read details on the gameplay and story.
